Its been a busy and exciting week here at fltdata for a number of reasons. The most exiciting biennial event in aviation ended a couple days ago. Although this years event didn't meet the records of FIA 2008 as reported by the PA:
The value of orders taken at the biennial Farnborough International Airshow this year is already in advance of 2006 but will fall well short of the record set in 2008, it has been revealed.
Orders for the 2010 show in Hampshire, which ends on Sunday, have so far reached 47 billion dollars (£31 billion).
They have included some big orders for Airbus planes, whose wings are made in the UK.

Nevertheless this years event saw some great introductions and fantastic aeriel displays and upcoming models such as the new Russian Superjet which dominated the first days of the event:
Russia's attempts to join industry big boys Airbus and Boeing in the aircraft market were given a boost this week at the Farnborough Air Show.
Russian aircraft builder Sukhoi received a breakthrough order from Indonesia's Kartika Airlines, which ordered 30 of its Russian-built Superjet 100s on July 19.
On July 20, Orient-Thai Airlines announced that it would buy at least 12 of the aircraft, which can seat between 75 and 95 passengers.
This would surely be a great boost for the Russian aviation industry.
Perhaps the biggest star of the show had to be the newly unveiled boeing 787 Dreamliner which made its debut at the show.

As the Farnborough airshow in the UK gets under way this week, the new Boeing flagship aircraft, the 787, continues to court attention. Having made its first appearance on European soil on Sunday, the much awaited (and two years delayed) Dreamliner heralds a new era in commercial aviation.
The dreamliner introduces with it more fuel efficiency and energy efficient aricraft plus a futuristic look and feel for passengers and should be wel in teh competition against Airbus 350.
The event closed with some dazzling air shows and displays keeping the farnborough tradition alive with fans eagerly awaiting for the next biennial.
The International Air Show in the British city of Farnborough, held once in two years, completes its operation on Sunday against the backdrop of positive development of the civil aircraft-building market.
The gradual emergence of the global economy from the crisis helps to raise the demand for passenger air traffic. Show sponsors reported that over 800 rounds of talks with the participation of 150 companies that concluded contracts for a total sum of 47 billion US dollars, were held at the air show over one week of its work
